SKINCARE ESSENTIALS OF A CABIN CREW

Hello everyone!

I’m so happy to be a part of our small online ladies community. My name is Alisa, and I’m from Bangkok, Thailand. I’ve been living in Dubai for over fifteen years now and have been working and flying around the world as a cabin crew. I’m so into fashion and beauty. I’m quite addicted to it.

So for this article, I will be sharing my go-to essential beauty products, several of which I have been using for a long time now. These are mainly the items that I use after every flight. I apply these on my skin when I have no time at all or when I feel too tired to bother with anything complicated.

It’s important to know how to clean your face after a long day of wearing makeup, especially for someone like me who does long haul flights for work (possibly for as long as 20 hours in total!). That is why I swear by the L’oreal Gentle Eyes and Lips Express makeup remover, and Shu Uemura’s Skin Purifier (makeup oil remover). This Japanese beauty oil is a lifesaver. I’ve been using it for over a decade now. I started with their pink series (for sensitive skin) then shifted to the purple version (for skin brightening). And now I’m hooked with the latest one, the Ultime 8 in gold, which is for anti-aging. It’s around 350 DHS for one bottle, which lasted me for a whole year. Good deal, right?

The next product that I apply is Caudalie’s Beauty Elixir. It’s a refreshing herbal facial spray. I use this instead of a night cream because I prefer to leave my skin to breathe overnight. Based on my own experience, whenever I put a bunch of skincare products on my face, I break out with pimples.

Now there are plenty of stopovers when I sometimes work on long sector trips. And when I do, my skin will eventually feel very heavy from the tons of makeup applied on my face. But I remedy this by doing a facial detox (like a refreshing mini-facial). After this, I use a few Korean products that my Korean colleagues have recommended. I’ve been using the SOME BY MI, Aha*Bha*Pha 30 Days Miracle Toner, and the SOME BY MI Bye Bye Blackhead 30 Days Miracle Green Tea Tox. By the names of these products, you’ll know that these will help detoxify your skin. I use the toner almost every day as it helps eliminate blackheads, especially on the nose area.

The bubble cleanser, on the other hand, is fun to use because after you apply it on your damp skin, the gel will instantly turn into a foam. It creates a tingly sensation. Sorry, don’t mind me. I just wanted to share the feeling of the foam digging into my pores. After this, I leave the product on my face for five minutes (or more) and then wash it off with water.

Now that I’ve shared my makeup remover routine, along with the products that I use, let’s talk about lip care. As you know, I try my best to take care of my lips, especially when it gets very dry during a flight or when I travel to different destinations that have changing weather. Honestly, not many products will work effectively on you. But I swear by my Australian Papaw cream, which works as a regular lip balm. I also use Laneige’s Lip Sleeping mask before I go to bed. And voila! I’m all set for the next day.

For the next time, I will tell you about the fabulous facial masks that I regularly use. I think facial masks are perfect, especially for all of us who are staying home right now.

I know it will be tough, but I also believe it will be better in the future. So stay in, pamper yourselves, and bring out the best opportunities from this situation. Let’s do it together!

 With love, Alisa.
